Some days I have to remember to brush my teeth. Nasty, I know, but hey. . . TRUTH BE TOLD!. Anyways, that statement should tell you that my self care game is not very strong. My husband & close friends are always on me about how little I do for myself.
Motherhood is the constant giving of yourself for the greater good of the tiny humans you created. But what happens when we dont have anything to give?
We cannot forget ourselves. It takes a woman to carry a child, birth a child, & then lovingly nurture that child. It takes a woman. . . That means we are women before we are mamas. That woman doesn’t go away when the baby comes, she just develops a new super power, motherhood.
So ladies I am reminding myself that I cannot forget that woman, Jalyssa. In the midst of singing songs, praying at bed time, changing diapers, cooking, cleaning, & a million other things, I have to stop & remind myself that mama matters too.
So I am challenging myself, & you, to do 1 thing each week leading up to mother’s day for mama. Whether it be taking yourself to the movies, out for coffee, an at home facial, or a long hot bath. As long as it is for you, benefiting you, just helping YOU. I know that is so contrary to what we feel we should do as mamas because it seems so selfish; but an empty vessel cannot pour out of its emptiness.
Self care is the replenishing, refilling, re stocking that we mamas need in order to continuously pour out. So I challenge you to join me in my #mamasmattertoo challenge. I am giving away one of these Lovishly necklaces to 1 mama that participates in this challenge. How about that? You get rewarded for acknowledging yourself! Because we are worthy of love. God sees us, acknowledges us, values us, & loves us right where we are in our motherhood journey. Now we have to choose to acknowledge. value, & love ourselves.
These necklaces can be customized according to your child’s initials.
- Tag your mama friends on my Instagram post for this blog.
- Take a photo each week of what you are doing for self care. Post it on Instagram with the hashtag #mamasmattertoochallenge
Thats it! I will randomly select a winner on Mother’s Day.
Winner must have posted each week with the hashtag!
Let’s be there for ourselves so we can give our babies the best version of mama.
